Who We Are

Pre-SOMA is an undergraduate division of the Student Osteopathic Medical Association. We aim to bring a variety of opportunities to students interested in pursuing careers in the medical field, specifically in Osteopathic medicine. Osteopathic medicine is a branch of medicine wherein mental health is incorporated into physical health to heal the mind, body and soul.

What We Do

Now that we are in an online environment we strive to teach the Riverside community about holistic preventative health care over Zoom. We are interested in determining what diseases the major ethnic populations of Riverside are susceptible to obtaining through extensive research of published journal articles and other scientific resources. From there we will be reaching out to different parts of our community, whether it be high schools or religious institutions, to teach our community about holistic preventative health care, for both mental and physical health. Volunteers of this program will be able to obtain service hours by attending our virtual meetings, contacting new schools or any center in the community that is interested in working with us along with researching diseases that are specific to certain ethnic groups to create our presentations and case studies for now.
