Who We Are
Latino Union is a non-profit organization with a principal focus on community service, promoting higher education, and community building. Our community service ranges from, but is not limited to, local street clean-ups, food drives, and care packages to the local community. We also collaborate with different student organizations to do community service. Our organization offers members a variety of opportunities to participate in local community service events.
Latino Union is also a social organization. We hold activities for members throughout the year, which consist of events such as bowling nights, movie nights, and the list goes on! We also have socials with other organizations on campus to get to know other organizations on campus and to make meaningful connections. As an organization, we encourage support toward other organizations' fundraisers and activities.
Academics are crucial to the mission of Latino Union, as we believe in the advancement of our members through higher education! If a member is struggling, we have support through Library Hours and guidance. We also host guest speakers from the local community to educate our members on different career paths. We want all members to be at their best when it comes to their academic coursework!
Another big part of Latino Union is that we are first-generation and transfer student-friendly; we provide many on-campus resources for our members. We also provide resources that include scholarships, internships, career readiness workshops, and bring awareness to our members about campus resources. Our organization does offer a scholarship to our members called the “Latino Union Scholarship,” which is awarded to a member at our End of the Year Banquet. Our overall goal is to be a bridge to our members’ success while fostering a supportive and connected community.
Meetings are held weekly on Wednesday nights at 8pm at Olmsted 1212.
What We Do
We are a student organization that provides our members a safe place on campus, academic support by doing study sessions, fun activities, and 10 hours of community service. We do street cleanups that can last up to 2 hours per quarter, letters to elders, food drives for families, clothing drives which one bag equals 1-2 hours of community service and are currently working on future projects with other student organizations and other organizations outside of campus like, "Feeding America."
