At Make-A-Wish Orange County and the Inland Empire, we grant life changing wishes to children with critical illnesses. Interns for Make-A-Wish Orange County and the Inland Empire give of their time and talents to help create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
All of our internships are unpaid; however, in return for their hard work and dedication, our interns receive valuable training, knowledge, hands-on nonprofit work experience, a chance to meet others, and the gratification of making a difference in the life of a child. Academic credit can also be provided for students (specific criteria/requirements of the student’s educational institution apply). All interns must be a current undergraduate or graduate student (over the age of 18) with excellent written and oral communications skills, organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to multitask and maintain confidentiality, computer proficiency, and a passion for the work of Make-A-Wish.
Wish Granting Intern will have the opportunity to experience the mission of Make-A-Wish OCIE by directly contributing to the wish planning process. This position works first-hand with our VP of Mission Delivery and Wish Granting team and when permissible, with our wish kids and their families.
Internship Responsibilities:
· Assist with the planning and coordinating of wishes
· Arrange travel accommodations such as transportation and hotels
· Coordinate with outside vendors/companies for wish assistance
· Prepare wish itineraries
· Contacting families, volunteers and medical staff as needed
· Faxing and mailing documentation
· Input, manage and track all wish related data
· Create and close wish kid files
Internship Qualifications:
· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
· Must work a minimum of 6-8 hours per week
